Robert Deane Martin was born November 22, 1946, in Algona, Iowa, to Leon and Dorothy (Deane) Martin. Bob graduated from Algona High School as well as the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He taught industrial arts for one year before becoming a salesman for a variety of companies. Bob moved back to Algona in 2002, to be closer to family. Bob died at his home in Algona on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at the age of 61.
Bob enjoyed photography and woodworking as well as attending local sporting events. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Algona.
Survivors include his father Leon "Champ" Martin of Algona; brother David Martin and wife Toni of Stillwater, Oklahoma; sister Linda Bilyeu and husband David of Bend, Oregon; brother Paul Martin and wife Lynda of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and brother Jim Martin of Boise, Idaho. Also surviving are 11 nieces and nephews and two great nieces and one great nephew. Bob was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy.
