Donald Nicholas Bormann was born June 18, 1924 on the family home in rural St. Benedict. He attended school thru the 9th grade at St. Benedict and graduated from St. Cecelia High School in 1943. He served in the Navy during WWII being stationed in the South Pacific.

Don was united in marriage to Camilla Frankl on July 1, 1947 at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, Algona. They farmed most of their life in the LuVerne area until retiring from farming in 1969. He then went on to work at the LuVerne Elevator and also sold Dekalb seed corn. In 1988 Don and Camilla moved into Algona.

Don enjoyed spending the summers with his family at their cabin in Ely, Minnesota. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the VFW Post #2541.

Donald N. Bormann died Monday, December 17, 2007 at Good Samaritan Society - Algona, at the age of 83. He had been a resident there since March, 2005.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Camilla Bormann of Algona; four children, Mary Catherine Jensen and her husband Darryl of Milford, Gerald Bormann and his wife Suzanne of Bemidji, MN, Dr. Joel Bormann and his wife Arla of Cumberland, WI, and Father Paul Bormann of Bancroft; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Albert Bormann and his wife Dolores of Algona; a sister, Barbara Bernhard and her husband Mark of Seneca; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant twin children, Judith Ann and Thomas Michael Bormann.
