Marvin William Evers
June 3, 1928 - October 17, 2017

Marvin William Evers, 89, of rural Tipton, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at West Ridge Care Center, following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Family and friends may gather at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, on Friday, October 20 from 4:00-7:00 PM for a time of visitation. Funeral services for Marvin will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 11:00 AM, Trinity Lutheran Church, Tipton. In honoring Marvin's wishes, he will be cremated following the funeral service. Private family inurnment will be held at Red Oak Cemetery, Tipton, at a later date. A memorial in Marvin's honor has been established. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Marvin was born on June 4, 1928 to Fred and Anna (Rehmke) Evers, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He attended Clarence High School before beginning his journey in farming. Marvin was united in marriage to the late Marlene Nelson, on September 1, 1950, in Grand Mound, Iowa. They were blessed with 4 children: Daniel, Kirk, Kevin and Nancy.
Marvin spent his employment years doing what he loved, farming. He began as a hired-hand, he then partnered with a farmer, before renting a farm. His hard work and dedication paid off and he was finally able to purchase his own farm Northeast of Tipton. Marvin enjoyed Polka music and dancing and was a member of the Eastern Iowa Polka Club.
Surviving Marvin are his children, Daniel (Cathy) Evers of Cedar Rapids, Kirk (Marilyn) Evers of Turlock, CA, Kevin (Mary Jo) Evers of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Don) Finch of Plano, TX; twelve grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren with two on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his three siblings, Darrel and Frederick Evers, and Mary Ann Fehling.
