Richard Ernest Droessler, son of Frank and Agnes (Illg) Droessler, was born on May 3, 1945 in Bancroft, Iowa. He attended and graduated from St. John High School in 1963. Richard farmed east of Bancroft on one of the family farms. He married Julie Reed on November 10, 1978 at the United Methodist Church in Elmore, Minnesota. They later renewed their vows in St. John Catholic Church. The couple purchased Leisure Lanes Bowling Center in Bancroft in 1991. Richard left farming after many years and began employment at Aluma KLM in Bancroft in 2001, where he was still employed.

Richard was loved by all who came into contact with him. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, as well as playing and watching slo-pitch softball with his children. Richard also loved to attend the car races in Algona where he watched his daughter, sons-in-law and grandsons race.
