In loving memory of

Mr. Marcus Tyrone Hatcher
September 15, 1950 - September 26, 2013

Marcus Tyrone Hatcher was born on September 15,1950 in Indianapolis, IN. He was the seventh child of William C. Hatcher and Margerine Wodruff Hatcher; and the brother of W. "Clifford" Hatcher all of whom preceded him in death. He attended Indianapolis Public School #26 and graduated from IPS #56. He played baseball at Douglass Little League for the Indians baseball team. Marcus was an active member of Church of the Living God, Temple #18 as a young man. As a member of the United States Air Force he was stationed throughout the United States and in Utapao, Thailand. He was a graduate of Crispus Attucks High School's class of 1968; and, attended Indiana University - Purdue University, at Indianapolis, IN.
Marcus was married to Pamela Jean Miller; and they are the parents of Kamilah Michelle and Marcus Rodney Hatcher. He was an active parent; and, could be seen at their children's sporting events, dance recitals, after school activities, or the public library. He was the coach of his son's baseball teams at St. Alban's Episcopal church. Marcus enjoyed traveling and has been to most cities in the United States, from Los Angeles to New York and San AntonioTexas to Detroit, MI. He loved to gamble, from the Pea Shake House, "scratch" off tickets, The Hoosier Lottery or Las Vegas, Nevada. As an entrepreneur he had his own: lawn care service, janitorial service (K and M Cleaning services), barbecued and sold his fork tender ribs on the Monon, and his last venture was a home renovation. Marcus read and studied Black history and had an extensive Black history library. He enjoyed music, especially jazz. Marcus was a skilled Domino player; and, was a "serious" card player and often would not play cards with either unskilled or non-serious card players.
Marcus worked at Detroit Diesel Allison for 24 years and was the Supervisor for Time and Attendance; he retired from Ford Motor Company where he worked as an assembler.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Children: Kamilah Michelle, and Marcus Rodney (Rhianon); Grandchildren: Vera Iman, and Marcus Aaron; Sisters: Beverly, Helen (James), Betty, and Regina (Kenneth,Sr.); Brothers: Robert, Carl, Curtis (Tywanda), Calvin (M. Denise), and Clarence. Aunts: Anna B. Coleman, and Georgia (John) Porter; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
