Wilhelmine Marie "Billie" Carroll was born July 2, 1912, in St. Benedict, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Bergman) Arndorfer. She grew up in the area and attended St. Benedict Catholic School.
On August 18, 1931, Billie was united in marriage to Dennis F. Carroll at the St. Benedict Catholic Church. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed in the LuVerne area where they remained their entire married lives. Dennis died April 12, 1975, and Billie remained living on the farm until she became a resident at the Good Samaritan Society - Algona in August of 2004. Billie enjoyed sewing, gardening and being with her family as she was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She was a Charter Member of the Community Thursday Club and a past member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Corwith where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.
Billie died Monday, February 9, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona. She was 96.
She is survived by her children Denise and husband Tom McNeilly of Houston, Texas; LaVonne Davis of Marietta, Georgia; Donald Carroll of LuVerne, Iowa; Rosemary and husband Kurt Paeper of Humboldt, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Beth Carroll of LuVerne, Iowa; 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and a sister, Sister Marcelline Arndorfer of Dubuque, Iowa.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Dennis; son, Thomas Carroll; brothers, Father Aloysius Arndorfer, Nick and Emil Arndorfer; sisters, Victoria Germann, Amelia Pickens, Bernadine Rieser and Sister DeSales Arndorfer.
