Mrs. Bobbye Jean Valentine
August 13, 1930 - February 27, 2016

Reverend Bobbye Jean Valentine Brown, age 85 of Indianapolis, IN peacefully passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016. She was born to the late George and Rose Ann Valentine on August 13, 1930 in Owensboro, KY. Bobbye was the eldest of 13 children After high school she went on to graduate from Tennessee State University with a B.S. degree in Social work. In April 1951 Bobbye married George Brown and they had three wonderful children. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Bobbye worked as a social worker for Marion County Welfare Department. After 30 years of helping children she received her calling to ministry. Bobbye received a Master of Christian Education from Christian Theological Seminary. Bobbye loved traveling, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a lifetime member of the soroity Alpha Kappa Alpha. She leaves her loving husband George Brown to cherish her memory along with her three children, Dr. Marcia Brown, George Brown III, and Dana Brown; her three grandchildren Nikki Brown, George Brown IV, and Stephen Brown; siblings Joan Ford, Pat Thurman, Rose Tanner, Sandra Custis, Barry Bowles, Dr. Charise Valentine, George Valentine, and Larry Valentine; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
