Stephen Anthony Doughan was born December 14, 1942, at Wesley, Iowa, to Vincent and Margaret (Lawler) Doughan. Steve graduated from Corwith Wesley High School in 1960. While in High School, Corwith won the State Baseball championship of which Steve was very proud, beating schools much larger than their own. Following graduation, Steve served in the United States Air Force from July 1961 ~ July 1965. On September 28, 1961, Steve was united in marriage to Patricia Youngwirth at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wesley. Following his discharge, Steve returned to Wesley and entered the banking profession. He became a loan officer and worked for the Exchange State Bank in Wesley as well as the Corwith State Bank and retired from the Iowa State Bank in 2004.

Steve really enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and attending their activities. Steve was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley where he was a choir member, was a member of the Wesley Fire Department and the American Legion Andrews Post #428 in Wesley.

Steve died on Tuesday morning, December 15, 2009, at the Kanawha Community Home in Kanawha at the age of 67.

Survivors include his children, daughter Deb and husband Pat Rahm of Wesley, Iowa, son Donny Doughan and wife Kim of Algona, Iowa, and daughter Joni and husband Kent Haugland of Wesley, Iowa, as well as eight grandchildren, Mandy and husband Jim Glawe, Tyler, and Spenser Rahm, A.J., Brandon and Chelsea Doughan and Grant and Alyssa Haugland, one brother Roger Doughan and wife Betty of Hampton, Iowa; mother-in-law, Rita Youngwirth of Wesley, Iowa, brothers-in-law, Denny Youngwirth and wife Ellie of Wesley, Iowa, Tim Youngwirth and wife Liz of Bancroft, Iowa and sister-in-law, Lisa and husband Jeff Elbert of Evanston, Illinois.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat on April 4, 2000, sister Nancy Ballard and her husband Phil, brother-in-law, Tommy Youngwirth and father-in-law, Luke Youngwirth.

I was one year older and we had some good times when we visited Wesley for our yearly trip to Iowa and MN.from East Detroit. This has been a hard year for the Doughan family.
