"I'm so sorry to hear of Uncle George passing. I know he had been sick for some time..God bless him, no more suffering. Its never ever easy for those of us left behind .I've been thinking of him and everyone that has gone before him.. Knowing "our family" ...I bet when he went home ,it was beautiful with lots and lots of joy and laughter! I remember his sense of humor , he always made me laugh! George Allen Rowland Sr, age 73 of Decherd, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born on March 12, 1943 in McMinnville to the late John Henry and Lilly Belle Luna Rowland. George enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, and motorcycle riding. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Janie Carden and Kathy Buttery; brothers, Vernon Rowland, David Rowland, and Tommy Rowland. George is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Lou Rowland of Decherd; daughters, Teresa Workman of Decherd, and Lisa (Jack) Lewis of Georgia; sons, George (Connie) Rowland Jr of Huntland, Cheyenne Rowland (Allisha Gearheart) of Winchester; stepsons, Troy Knoer and Michael Knoer, both of Tullahoma; 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Williams of Nashville; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev.
