Thomas J. Raftery, Sr.

Kingston - Thomas J. Raftery, Sr. of Teller St. died Saturday, October 28, 2017 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus. He was 89. He was born in Kingston, a son of the late William and Ethel Coutant Raftery. He served in the National Guard. For 30 years he owned and operated Raftery's Garage then moved to the City of Kingston Department of Public Works where he worked for eighteen years before retiring in 1998. He was married to the late Barbara Smith Raftery who passed away on December 28, 2006. Surviving are three sons, Steven (Cindy) Raftery, Thomas (Dorothy) Raftery, Jr. and William (Doreen) Raftery all of Kingston and a sister, Claire Moxham of St. Remy. Four grandchildren, one great-grandchild also survive. A grandchild and a brother, William Raftery died previously. Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. Services are private.
