MUSCATINE, Iowa - James D. Finley, 92, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Dan Schoepf will officiate. Casket bearers will be Clint Finley, Grant Finley, Clay Finley, Ricky Padilla, and Jake Munson. Burial will take place in Nichols Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 until 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Muscatine Salvation Army. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com


James was born on July 18, 1925, in Nichols, the son of Clarence and Linnie Mills Finley. He married Marion M. Daniels on February 8, 1947, in Muscatine.

He was a member of Spangler United Methodist Church. He loved his family especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. James enjoyed dancing at the Moose Lodge, and playing euchre with his friends.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Marion Finley of Muscatine; one son, Dean Finley and wife, Tina, of Muscatine; two daughters, Janet Luedtka of Solon and Pat Finley and husband, Bobby Olsen, of Denver, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Brian Luedtka, Stacey Munson, Clint Finley, Grant Finley, Tana Padilla, Clay Finley, Kelly Hall, and Sean Greengard; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ted Finley of Coal Valley, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Phyllis Lisle; and one son-in-law, Jim Luedtka.
