In loving memory of

Alice M. Kashtan
December 21, 1932 - October 30, 2017

Our adored Alice Kashtan, 84, passed away on October 30th in her Toms River home, surrounded by her family. Alice was a very special wife to her husband of 63 years, Max, and tireless mother to her three children, Kim Vella and husband Rich, Mark Kashtan and wife Corinne, and Gary Kashtan and wife Paulette. She was cherished by her grandchildren Lauren DiMartino, Erica DiMartino, Alex Kashtan, Claudia Kashtan and Dr. Joey Vella and wife Dawn Lee.

Alice grew up in Clifton, NJ with her late parents Sally and Frank Gross, and her four siblings who will continue to honor her memory--Sallyann Sherlock and her husband Jim, Gayle Paruta and her husband Larry, Frank Gross, and Cheryl Delagram and her husband Ronnie.

Alice touched many lives, and was special to an innumerable amount of friends and family, and was more affectionately known as "mommy," "grandma," "mema," "Aunt Alice," and "Ally." She worked as a beautician for much of her life, and more importantly, a writer. Her column, "Something by Ally," was a favorite in her local paper, sharing her graceful words of wisdom and life lessons. She was a lover of tennis, Ma-Jong and Halloween, and a snow-bird in Vero Beach, Fl. Alice will be most remembered by her constant grace, kind soul, contagious smile, enlightened intellect, unshakeable faith, fun sleepover parties, and the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. She lit up every room she walked in to.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Toms River on Thursday, November 2 at 11am. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The First Presbyterian Church, www.pctr.org/donations.

"God bless."
