Hazel Voss
April 4, 1921 - October 31, 2017

Hazel Voss, 96, of St. Charles passed away at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield on Tuesday, October, 31 where she resided for 2 years. Hazel was born April 4, 1921 in Medford, MN to John & Edith (Hoover) Ring. She graduated from Faribault High School class of 1939 then worked at Farmer Seed & Nursery in Faribault where she met Walter R. Voss whom she married in 1957 in Faribault. He preceded her in death in 2005. She was a member of St. Charles United Methodist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary. Known as a great cook, Mrs. Voss used her talents by cooking for St. Charles Head Start; St. Charles UMC Winona County Fair stand and numerous church dinners and functions. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, spending time with her grandson and friends for "coffee time" where she always had fresh baked goods to share. She was named Winona County Outstanding Senior Citizen in 2012. She delivered Meals on Wheels and volunteered at the Southeast Minnesota Rural Education and Resource Center for over 20 years where she was always looking for treasures before retiring at age 93.
She is survived by son Earl (Catherine) and grandson Erik, St. Charles; brother James Ring (Maren) of Albert Lea. and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy (Art)Voge, Helen (Art) Sellner, Margaret (Chet)Puffer, Marian Gangloff all of Faribault; Florence (Larry) Lawson of Madelia, Jean (Bill) Puffer of Spencer Iowa. Brothers Orville (Verna) of Tyler Texas, John (Loretta) of St. Paul, Avison (Marjorie) of Faribault.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles with the Reverend Heather E. Klason of St. Charles United Methodist Church officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday and one hour before services Saturday at the funeral home.
