Thomas West wrote on Nov 19, 2017:

"Joe was one of my first good friends when I came to Burlington after World War II. We spent some great times together in our youth after the war. I always counted on Joe to be my personal "Body Guard". He was an imposing man that became a great Fire Fighter. Our lives separated in distances (Arizona for Doris and me) and Iowa for him thru the years, but I had very fond memories of our times together. RIP Joe Smokey West"

Brian Richardson wrote on Nov 2, 2017:

"Deepest Sympathy, My thoughts and prayers are with all of you through these difficult times. Joe and I spent good times together mushroom hunting, fishing, boating and just having coffee. He will be deeply missed."
