Janelle Maree Cravens
December 4, 1972 - November 7, 2017

Janelle Cravens, 44, of Badger, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Al Henderson officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Janelle is survived by her husband, David; their two children, Natalie Cravens of Iowa City, Iowa and Ryan Cravens of Badger. She is also survived by her mom, Lynn Bretthauer of Fort Dodge; sister, Megan Bretthauer of Fort Dodge and her brother, Shawn (Angela) Bretthauer of Kansas. She is preceded in death by her father, Phil Bretthauer.

Janelle Maree Bretthauer, the daughter of Philip and Lynn (Christopherson) Bretthauer, was born December 4, 1972 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1991 and that fall started at ICCC in Fort Dodge. In 1995, Janelle graduated from Buena Vista University with a degree in Mass Communications.

On May 10, 1997, Janelle was united in marriage to David Cravens at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. After their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home before later moving to Badger. Janelle worked at Heartland Communications in Fort Dodge before working at the Girl Scout office. Janelle later worked at Friendship Haven before becoming the director of Hope Sweet Hope Studios in Fort Dodge.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was very active in the church youth group and also served on several church boards. Janelle was a past Girl Scout leader, a member of the Fort Dodge Kiwanis Club, and enjoyed volunteering at Camp Okoboji. In Janelle's spare time she loved to do scrapbooking, taking photos, and just being with the youth group, friends, and her family.
