Phillip G. Boyd, 81, Muncie, passed away Thursday morning, November 9, 2017, at the Woodlands.
He was born Monday, November 25, 1935 in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Max L. and Aileen (Barnet) Boyd. Phil was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting trips to Montana and Wyoming, fly-in fishing trips to Canada and snowmobiling in Michigan. He also loved his dogs and riding and showing his horses. Phil was former President of the Halteman Villas Condos. Phil was a 1954 Muncie Central High graduate. After high school he attended DeVry Institute in Chicago, completed a four year United States Department of Labor Electrical Apprenticeship, received an Indiana University Certificate of Achievement from "Japanese Business School" from I.U.P.U.I. in Kokomo. He began his career with Moorehead Electric in 1969 and was Vice President and part owner. His business required a move to Marion in the summer of 1986 and lived there until retiring and returning to Muncie in July of 2005. After retirement he did estimating work for AEM Electric and Moss Electric.
Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of sixty-one years, Barbara Jo (Abrell) Boyd; three daughters, Rhonda Burney; Natalie (Troy) Johnston, and Kelli Jo (Gavin) Powell; grandchildren, Jacob Yordy, Samantha Powell, and Hunter Phillip Johnston; two brothers, Fred (Toni) Boyd and Gary (Jill) Boyd; three nephews, Ross (Vickie) Boyd, Trent Boyd, and Chris (Erin) Boyd; one niece, Cindy Stanley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Jerry Burney.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 with Rev. James Paino officiating.
Family and friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to A.R.F., Animal Rescue Fund, 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, Indiana 47303 or to a charity of donor's choice.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Kindred Hospice; the Woodland Nursing Home nurses and aides; Dr. Spangler from Witham Hospital in Lebanon;neighbors, Ed and Judy Huffman and a special friend, Jerry York.
