Norbert Patrick Keefe, 89, of Chatfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Norbert was born April 5th, 1928, to Edward and Mary Keefe. Norbert grew up on his family farm as a 4th generation farmer. On August 22, 1953, he was united in marriage with Mary Peters from Chatfield. They were married for 64 years. The two of them farmed together and raised four children.
Along with his passion for farming, Norbert served on the Elmira Town Board for many years. Norbert was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield, Minnesota. He enjoyed his morning coffee sessions with the other local farmers. Norbert enjoyed fishing trips with friends and family. He enjoyed having his family out at the farm for family dinners and to overlook the valley.
Norbert is survived by his wife, Mary; three sons, Tom (Julie), David, Dan (Sue), and his daughter, Mary Beth "Betts" (Bill) Funk, all from Chatfield, Minnesota; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Rosemary Kubicek of Lilydale, Minnesota, Helen Texido of California, Kathryn "Toddy" (Frank) Kennedy of California; brothers, John (Florence) Keefe of Texas, and Patrick (Gretchen) Keefe of Dover, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. Norbert is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Keefe; his sisters, Jean Lynch, and Phylis Tracy.
In lieu of flowers a memorial can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield with the Reverend Timothy Biren officiating. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m., Sunday at the Keefe Family Farm, 10405 170th Ave SE, Chatfield, MN 55923. Visitation will continue 9:30 a.m., until the time of the Mass at the church on Monday.
