Oscar H. Crawford
July 19, 1930 - November 9, 2017

Oscar Henry Crawford was born on July 19, 1930, in Fountain Run, Kentucky, to the late Clyde Harrison Crawford and Maude Lee Crawford. Oscar accepted Christ at an early age, and became a member of the Church of Christ. He received his formal education at Lincoln Institute Prep High School in Simpsonville, Kentucky and graduated on June 2, 1948. Oscar enlisted in the U.S. Naval Marine Corpsman training in Great Lakes, Illinois and Beaufort, South Carolina. He also served as a hospital corpsman in the Korean War. Oscar was honorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States of American on September 2, 1952.

Oscar began his career at Carrier Manufacturing Company in Indianapolis. He was elected treasurer of the United Steel Workers of America Union, Local 4315. Oscar retired after 39 years of loyal and dedicated service on April 1, 1992.

Oscar loved gardening and planted a variety of crops in the summer, until he was no longer able to keep up with the demands of gardening. He was avid reader, and could converse with anyone on various issues, Oscar loved his dogs, which he adopted from the Indianapolis Humane Shelter (Abby, Bobo, Archie, Zeus, and Toby, a Pomeranian who was a gift from his dad).

Oscar leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 46 years, Gerlyne Crawford, Brothers, Clyde Harrison Crawford Jr., (Late Betty Jane Crawford). Charles E. Crawford, (Margaret Crawford), Sister, Emma Barfield, (Rufus Barfield), and several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
