JACK BRODERS
NICHOLS, Iowa - Jack L. Broders, 75, of Nichols, died on Friday, November 10, 2017, at his home.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Dan Baldwin of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Nichols Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of JoAnn Broders. Jack was born on August 9, 1942, in Muscatine, the son of Frank Fred and Genevieve Pansy Riddle Broders. He married JoAnn Hartman on October 29, 1961, in Wilton, Iowa.

He owned and operated Broders Excavating for 41 plus years and prior to that he worked for Lucas Plumbing for 14 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and was a life time member of the Operators Union. He enjoyed working, fishing and hunting.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, JoAnn Broders of Nichols; two sons, Jack L. Broders Jr. and wife, Lyda, of West Liberty, and Louis Broders and wife, Tara, of Nichols; one daughter, Lesa Broders of Livingston, Texas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank 'Pete' Broders Jr. and wife, Rita of Mission, Texas, and Joel Broders and wife, Darlene, of Lisbon, Iowa; and one sister, Geraldine Marolf and husband, George, of Mission, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

"Jack was a great neighbor when my son Brad and family lived on an acreage near the Broder family. Jack was always there helping Brad with various tasks on the acreage. I also remember when he had buffalo on his farm and would call them to the feed bunk by banging on a large, metal basket. He and JoAnn were just super great friends for Brad and Mary. JoAnn, Jack was a blessing to so many people. "
