Joseph Donald Ellis
May 3, 1931 - November 12, 2017

Joseph Donald Ellis, age 86 of Estill Springs, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Abanda, Alabama on May 3, 1931 to the late Thomas Edward and Addie Holman Ellis. Joseph served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the United States Air Force and later the United States Postal Service. Joseph was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the VFW, and a member of the Franklin County Farmers Market, where he enjoyed taking his woodworking creations. He was an avid Alabama Football Fan. Joseph will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, and as being a man of few words. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Ellis and Oliver Ellis; and sister, Frances Hanson. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Patsy Lou Mabry Ellis of Estill Springs; children, Tim (Debbie) Ellis of Brandon, Florida, Kathy (Jimmy) Prince of Winchester, Pat (Maria) Ellis of Dumfries, Virginia, Michael (Tammy) Ellis of Merritt Island, Florida, and D.J. (Denise) Ellis of Indialantic, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashley) Ellis, Alysyn Ellis, Anna Ellis, Alexis Ellis, Michael Thomas Ellis, Joshua (Alexa) Gaby, Matthew (Scott) Gaby, Andrew (Carlie) Gaby, Jim Prince, Jamie Prince, John Ellis, Jane Ellis, Cameron Ellis, Kaylan Ellis, and Gabriella Quintero; great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Madison, and Memphis Ellis, Amelia, Chance, and Brooks Gaby, and Langley and Gunner Gaby; brother, Robert Ellis of Valley, Alabama; sisters, Virginia Rice of Villa Rica, Georgia, and Adelene McGee of Harlingen, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Ken Ervin officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with full military honors bestowed.
