In loving memory of

Thomas Richard Bernstein
October 10, 1991 - November 11, 2017

Madison - Thomas Richard Bernstein, age 26, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, November 11, 2017. He was born on October 10, 1991 to Howard and Barbara (Loeb) Bernstein in Madison. He attended Orchard Ridge Elementary School and James Madison Memorial High School, and went on to attend the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

From a young age, Tom showed a gift for computers, teaching himself JAVA script at 12 and building his own computer at 15. He approached new ventures with a spirit of enthusiasm and excitement, and was always ready with a joke, a grin, or a quiet chuckle. Traveling to new places always led to plans for new places to go, and while he loved all animals, he especially adored his cat.

Tom is survived by his parents, his sister, Laura Bernstein-Kurtycz, and his brother-in-law, Jonathan Kurtycz. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Private family services will be held with burial at Beit Olamim in Sunset Memory Gardens.

"Barb, Howard, Laura and family... I just learned of your terribly sad news. I can't begin to say how very sorry I am for your loss. I know there will always be a hole in your heart, but pray your sadness is soon replaced with wonderful memories. I knew Thomas best as a little boy with dark hair, an infectious smile, an inquisitive mind and a red enamel bed! Blessings as you face this very difficult journey! Linda Maassen"

"Tom was a wonderful friend of mine. We would often joke at length with each other, telling stories or jokes and just laughing for hours. I would even come to him for advice, or have him proofread things for me, such as my resume or college application essays. He was just a genuinely good person. I am terribly sorry for your loss and my thoughts are with you all."
