Judith Ann Weibel

VERONA - Judy Weibel passed away on Nov. 14, 2017, at Agrace HospiceCare.

Judy was born to Graydon and Marian Heuman, spending her childhood in Elkhart and Muncie Indiana. She attended and graduated from the Burris School system, an affiliation with Ball State University, in Muncie. She continued on with her education and graduated from Ball State with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education.

Judy taught high school business classes for 19 years in Indiana, concluding at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana. Her interest in sports was fostered while attending high school sporting events, and as the Penn cheerleader advisor.

Her interest in Cleo and the University of Wisconsin Badgers came about simultaneously through a blind date orchestrated by her Aunt Nell. Judy and Cleo drove to Lafayette for the Wisconsin/Purdue football game followed the next Saturday by a drive to Bloomington for the Wisconsin/ Indiana football game. And the rest is history. Judy and Cleo were married in South Bend, Indiana, living in Mishawaka until moving to Madison in 1982.

After moving to Madison, Judy worked for HospiceCare (now Agrace) for 16 years in a variety of administrative roles. Since her retirement from Agrace she continued as a volunteer for the last 12 years. Judy had great love, admiration and respect for Agrace, its employees and the wonderful work they do. Cleo is so grateful that he was able to bring Judy home to the place she loved for her final time.

Judy and Cleo loved, cherished and were very happy spending their time together doing the many things they loved to do. Travel was among those things and included vacation trips throughout the country to Badger away games and bowl games, highlighted by the 1994 Rose Bowl and Badger trips to Hawaii. Judy had a wonderful time visiting and staying with a friend in Paris. A trip to Egypt, during the uprising, with friends was exciting and very adventurous. Judy always looked forward to spending many weeks at her two "homes away from home" in Treasure Island, Florida and Sister Bay, Wisconsin.

Judy enjoyed Badger sports, attending home games with season tickets to 5 sports at one point in time. She was passionate about the Badger Volleyball team. She was so excited with the arrival of Coach Sheffield, fellow alum of Burris and Ball State. She also enjoyed her MSCR exercise classes and her daily walks with Cleo in the mall.

Judy loved a wide variety of music and art. Capitol City Band and Madison Symphony Orchestra concerts were among her favorites, as well as many Door County artists.

Judy was an advocate of the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison, particularly the Arctic Passage and Badger Exhibit projects. Oh how she loved the Red Pandas!

Judy had strong interest in medical research. Cancer, Alzheimer's, Stem Cell and Tinnitus were specifically important. The Middleton Outreach Ministry, Second Harvest Food Bank, Ball State Business School and Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority were always close to her heart.

No one was a stranger to Judy. She engaged in conversation with everyone she met.

Judy is survived by her loving husband Cleo; aunts Bert Ellis, Marge Heuman, and Ruth Kessel; siblings in-law, Rich and Mary, Dale and Becky, Joyce, Dennis and Lynne, Dean and Shirley; special nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of Judy's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec.17, 2017, at the Cress Center, 6021 University Ave., Madison. Cleo will greet friends at a gathering reception following the service.
