Kathleen Nordstrom

Kathleen Nordstrom, age 87 of Boone, died at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames on November 24, 2017. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, at Sixth and Marshall. Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport. Roberta Kathleen Nordstrom, was born May 16, 1930, in Iowa, in Boone County, the daughter of Robert and Ruby (Phipps) Reynoldson. She graduated from Boone High School in 1949. On July 22, 1951, Kathleen married Robert D. Nordstrom in Boone, Iowa. The couple later divorced. She worked in the Botany Lab and as a Custodian for Iowa State University until her retirement in 1977. She also worked for the former Randy's Meats in Boone, and the former Broiler Restaurant in Ames. Kathy later worked as a greeter for the Boone Wal-Mart until 2007. Kathy was a member of Central Christian Church, Boone Senior Citizens, Tops, Purple Hat Club, YMCA, American Legion Post #56 Auxiliary, and the Heartland Health Center. She was a generous and hard working person who loved to shop. She was always busy with her hands either making quilts or other crafts or using her green thumb with her garden. Kathy especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lois Musgrave and Marjorie Holbrook. Kathy is survived by her daughter, Yarrow Deborah (Tony) Brown of Winona, Minnesota; two sons, Robert(Tamara) Nordstrom of Crescent, Iowa and Donald (Connie) Nordstrom of Hawaii; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Andrew, Blake, and Caleb Nordstrom, Timothy and Colin Cross and Jessica McFarland; five great-grandchildren, Marcus, Terran, and Cyrus Cross, Detton McFarland and Atlas Nordstrom; four sisters, Helen Mattson and Carolyn (Bud) Webb both of Boone, LeAnne Lewiston of Ida Grove and Nancy (Michael) McInerney of Denver, Colorado; three brothers, Roger (Betty) Reynoldson of Fraser, Ronald (Dottie) Reynoldson of Portland, Oregon and Dennis (Janice) Reynoldson of Iowa Falls, and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the Chapel. In memory of Kathy, memorials may be directed to the family.
