Dorothy Ann Folkmann
July 19, 1929 - November 25, 2017

Williamsburg-Dorothy Ann Folkmann was born on July 19, 1929, in Homestead, Iowa to Adolph and Anna (Koester) Wichmann Sr. She was baptized on August 18, 1929, and confirmed April 14, 1943, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Homestead, IA. She attended St. John's Lutheran School. She met the love of her life, Loren G. Folkmann and they were married on September 5, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed together north of Williamsburg until they retired and moved to town in 1985. Dorothy loved Jesus with all of her heart and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. She participated in the Ladies Aid, ESR Club and the church choir for over 60 years. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, playing piano, singing, knitting, golfing and of course crocheting her famous scrubbies. She had a caring and genuine heart and always saw the best in people and in every situation. She was a devoted, loving and kindhearted mother and grand/great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many lives she touched. Dorothy passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, surrounded by her family at Highland Ridge Care Center in Williamsburg at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by her husband Loren of Williamsburg; four children: Brenda (David) Johnson of North Liberty, Gregory (Peggy) Folkmann of Williamsburg, Pamela (Chuck Huss) Folkmann-Huss of Iowa City and Julie (Craig) Hunter of Darlington, WI: 10 grandchildren: Anthony (Susan) Folkmann, Anne (Justin) Stuedemann, Andrew (Lindsay) Folkmann , Allison (Brett) Dietrich, Emy (Blake) Williams, Erik (Angie) Johnson, Curtis Enochson, Haley (Garrett) Struckhoff, Mitchel Hunter and Kalyn (Joshua) Lancette; 12 great grandchildren: William and Emma Folkmann, Ella Stuedemann, Marie Folkmann, Landon and Maddox Dietrich, Ashlyn and Teague Williams, Seth and Cooper Johnson, Leo and Lincoln Struckhoff; a sister: Ethel Wichmann of Osage; a brother: Earl (Marilyn) Wichmann of Homestead and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Gary in infancy; three brothers: Raymond, Clarence, Adolph Jr. and two sisters: Fern Oehl and Roma Wichmann in infancy.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Conroy. Pastor Gary Sears will officiate. Burial will be the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for Trinity Lutheran Church or Lutheran Interparish School in Williamsburg. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the warm and tender care given to Dorothy by Highland Ridge Care Center and Iowa City Hospice. The love we give away is the only love we keep. I am going home to be with my Lord. The best is yet to come. Love, Dorothy
