In loving memory of

Martin McKenney
August 20, 1992 - November 24, 2017

Our son, brother, uncle, grandson Martin Duke McKenney, age 25, of Rochester, passed away Friday November 24th.
Martin was born in San Diego, CA on August 20th 1992, to Kelly McKenney and Gail (Vilen) McKenney. Martin was the youngest of three siblings. Being part of a military family, Martin had the opportunity to live in many different places including both U.S. coasts and Sicily, Italy. He chose to finish high school in Rochester to be closer to his family; especially his mother. He graduated from John Marshall High School in the class of 2010. During his time there, Martin was part of the soccer team and enjoyed hanging out with friends. Martin made the Dean's list at Rochester Community Technical College, where he earned his Welding Certificate in 2015 - which he was supremely proud of completing. Martin worked in the Rochester area at Geotek in Stewartville for 2 years and McNeilus Steel in Dodge Center for one year. Martin had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, frisbee golf, camping, running, biking, and most of all skateboarding.
Martin is survived by his mother Gail, Rochester, MN; brother Matthew, Two Harbors, MN; sister Maureen (Shaun) Riska, Rochester, MN; grandmother Jan Vilen; nieces and nephews: Lorelei, Simon, Hero, William Riska, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Kelly, grandfather Hilton Vilen, and grandparents Marlene and Joseph McKenney. Martin's gentle soul and infectious laughter will never be forgotten
A private memorial will be held at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home before he is laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
