Robert J. "Herb" Jennings, 91, of Keokuk, died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at 1:39 P.M. at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
Robert Jennings was born on December 21, 1912 in Cora, Missouri. He was the son of Robert Henry Byrnes and Zora A. Almond Jennings. He married Georgiana West on August 29, 1931 in Keokuk. She preceded him in death on February 25, 1988. He later married Teresa Sinclair Brown in 1988 in Kahoka, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2000. He had been employed at the Hubinger Company for 46 years as maintenance foreman until his retirement in 1974. He liked fishing, gardening, camping, hunting, bowling, and spending time with his family and his cat, Casey.
Survivors include three children, Betty Sparrow and her husband, Gaylen, of Warsaw, Illinois, Karen Kennedy of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Sally Holtsclaw and her husband, Richard, of Hamilton, Illinois; One stepson, Charles R. Brown, of Clinton, Maryland; ten grandchildren, Kathy Beals, Pamela Gregory, William R. Walte, Joy Kirkpatrick, Jason Sparrow, Bob Kennedy, Goeffrey Todd Kennedy, Brandi Mudd, Cicily Knowles, and Whitney Holtsclaw; two step grandchildren, Maria Van Dyke and Maryanne Hare-Bennett; eleven great grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; niece, Ruth Ann Ricker, of Keokuk, Iowa; and several nephews in Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; his two wives; a daughter, Judith Moon; a granddaughter; four sisters; and one brother.
Services were Friday, August 13, 2004 at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Reverend William Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
