Arnold "Arnie" Jacob Jensen
Born April 17, 1928 in Spring Valley, MN, died at home with family on November 27, 2017. Arnie was born to Jacob and Esther (Hinze) Jensen and grew up on a farm just outside Rochester with his 2 brothers and 3 sisters. He attended Rochester HS before his entrepreneurial spirit led him into the work place as a truck driver. He owned and operated Arnie's Tavern in Mazeppa and Jensen's Market in Rochester before living out the rest of his working years as a masonry contractor, Arnie Jensen Masonry, specializing in laying block, stone, and brick. On April 18, 1948 he married Marilyn Farmer and they were married for 69 years before his beloved preceded him to Heaven June 1, 2017.
Arnie is survived by his brother, Robert E., sister, Mary (Agnes) Senst, children, Judy (Dennis) Hilken of Bakersfield, CA, Janice Jensen of Rochester, Kathy Johnson of Rochester, Nancy (Bryce) Rothwell of Eau Claire, WI; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by infant son John and son, Michael, wife Marilyn, brothers Glen and Gary, sister Alice Wirth, half-sister, Anne Brehmer, and granddaughter Whitley Thompson.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, December 2, at Grace Lutheran Church, 800 East Silver Lake Dr. NE, Rochester followed by a worship service celebrating God's grace in his life at 11:00 AM officiated by his grandson, Pastor Brad Jensen, son-in-law, Pastor Dennis Hilken, and Rev. Gregory Heidorn. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
