Nathan Bradley Marx, 40, of Madison passed away on November 28 after a brief battle with cancer. He was known to friends and family as a friendly guy with a goofy sense of humor who could always be counted upon to lend a hand if a friend was in need. He never tired of learning and could never be content just sitting and watching TV when he could be creating or destroying something at his work bench. He took pleasure in traveling and took trips with his wife to Belize and Europe and with his family to Mexico. He ran the websites madfam.com and corrode.org for his core groups of friends. He loved listening to and making music, attending live shows, tinkering with electronics and amateur science projects, and creating LED light art pieces. His LED handiwork can be observed in Nizar Schaller's sculpure Flit at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, WI.
Nate attended high school in Prescott, WI before moving to Madison to attend UW Madison as a computer science major. It was there in the Chadbourne dorms where he met his future wife Kim and many lifelong friends. After a short-lived stint as a male model for The Onion, he began a career in information technology at Sonic Foundry, a job he genuinely enjoyed and took pride in.
Nathan is survived by his wife Kim Kuczynski, his parents Brad and Nancy Marx, his younger brother Adam, and his grandmother Mary as well as an extended family of aunts, uncles, and the cousins with whom Nate shared many childhood misadventures.
An informal memorial gathering for Nate will be held at the Paradise Lounge located at 119 W Main St in Madison on Sunday December 10th starting at 4 o'clock. All are welcome to come share their memories and have one final cocktail with Nate.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Nataliya Uboha and the staff at UW Hospital, Agrace Hospice, Nate's coworkers at Sonic Foundry, and all of Nate and Kim's friends for their efforts on our behalf...words cannot begin to express how much your support has meant.
