Dirk R. Dirksen
December 9, 1924 - November 29, 2017

Dirk R. Dirksen, 92, of Alexander, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton in Hampton, Iowa.

He was born on December 9, 1924, to Dirk R. and Yettie (Pals) Dirksen, on the family farm in Alexander, Iowa. Dirk attended country school in rural Alexander. He was united in marriage to Grace A. Dirks on May 26, 1951, at the parsonage in Meservey, Iowa. Dirk grew up on the family farm and lived there throughout his life. This century farm survived two tornados; one in June 1925 and again in June 2013. Dirk was a member of the First Reformed Church of Alexander. His greatest joys were his family and farming.

Dirk is survived by his daughter Marlys Pralle, her children Courtney and Jake Hansen, grandchildren Kenley and Knox, Travis Pralle and Lindsey Christiansen, Whitney Pralle and Brad Hasenkamp; and daughter Mavis and Drew Kragel, her children Stacy and Abbey Barrick, grandchildren Madison and Andon, Jason Barrick and Katie Woodley, grandchildren Jaelynn and Dirk, Ryan and Amber Barrick, granddaughter Rylynn; and Jessi and Patrick Olmstead, Jackson, Kennedy, Carter, and Sawyer Bowers, Pyper, Cameron, Teagan; and son Bruce and Missi Dirksen and his children Jozel Dirksen, Jerrad and Sarah Dirksen, granddaughter Payton, and Jordan Dirksen; and Lindse and Jaime Winterstein, Bryson, Ashlynn, Caleb, and Courtney and Lonnie Winberry, Avery, and Lisa and Brian Kuehl, Carson, Quinn, Kade, and Vince Aurora and Merrick Price; and son Brian and Rhonda Dirksen, his children Brett Dirksen, Katie Dirksen and Chad Ludovissy; and Tess Hanson and Paige Hanson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Grace, parents Dirk and Yettie, and five siblings Grace, Jelto, Jennie, Clara and Louis.
