Robert F. Hughes 88 formerly of Punta Gorda, Florida died on November 25,
2017 at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, Florida. He recently resided at Village
Place Retirement Home in Port Charlotte, Florida
He was born on November 17, 1929 in Boston, Massachusetts to Walter
Hughes and Lillian MacKinnon Hughes. Robert came to this area in 1975
from Brookline, Massachusetts, where he was treasurer for Brookline Savings
bank. After relocating to Florida he worked for Five Star Realty for many years
as a realtor before his retirement in 2008.
He is survived by his 2 sons, William (Judy) Hughes of Venice, Florida and
Robert Hughes of North Port, Florida; His 2 step-sons, Harry (Cady) Rowe of
Punta Gorda, Florida and Kenneth (Elaine) Rowe of Westwood, Massachusetts,
his brother, Kenneth Hughes of Madison, New Hampshire; 4 grandchildren,
7 great-grand children and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death
by his wife, Doris Hughes, who died on November of 2008.
Visitation Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 12:00 noon until service time at
1:00 P.M. at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 635 E. Marion Avenue
Punta Gorda, Florida. Burial will follow at Royal Palm memorial Gardens
Cemetery, Punta Gorda, Florida.
