Alan "Skip" L. Bayless
September 6, 1940 - November 17, 2017

Alan L. "Skip" Bayless, 77, Harrisonville, MO died Friday, November 17, 2017 at his home.

Skip was born September 6, 1940 in Northboro, IA, a son of Marion D. and Elizabeth J. (Morgan) Bayless. He grew up in Northboro and was a 1958 graduate of Northboro High School. Skip attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO. He played in his Father's dance band the Rhythm Aires when he was in high school and into college. That's where Marion Dee Bayless dedicated the song "It Had to Be You" to Karen and Skipper in 1959 and they married in June, 1960. In this union 3 children were born, Lundie Rene, Todd Alan and Timothy Dee. Skip and Karen were married for 35 years. Skip and his family had lived in Shenandoah, IA, Omaha, NE, Des Moines, IA and Parkville, MO. Skip moved to Harrisonville, MO and lived there for 22 years with Leota Harris.

Over the course of Skip's career and life, he worked for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Agency in Shenandoah, IA, Continental Can Co., and NEBCO Distribution in Omaha, NE, and L&L Supply Co. Later he worked for Conklin Co. as a salesman, was an Auctioneer, and had worked for the I.R.S. in Kansas City, MO. He loved music, woodworking, boating, fishing and traveling. Also, working, researching and emailing from his computer, spending time with his family and attending class reunions. He was loved as a husband, father, brother and friend to many. He will never be forgotten.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents Marion Dee and Elizabeth Josephine Bayless; his wife, Karen Leah (Williamson) Bayless and two sons, Todd Alan Bayless and Timothy Dee Bayless.

He is survived by his fiancée, Leota (Lee) Harris, Harrisonville, Mo; four sisters, Alice Mauer, Omaha, NE, Deborah (Rod) Nester, Jody (Dennis) Streitenberger, and Shari (Jay) Lindburg, all of Shenandoah, IA; daughter, Lundie Renee' Bayless, Kansas City, MO; and three grandchildren, Amy Marie Thropp, Boulder, CO and Zachary Alan Thropp, Kansas City, MO and Sydnei Leah Bayless.

Celebration of life memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home.

Immediately following the memorial service the family will have a visitation and luncheon at the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Burial of cremains will be held at a late date in Union Grove Cemetery in Northboro, Iowa.
