Dale LaMoyne Stiff
January 7, 1927 - December 1, 2017

Dale LaMoyne Stiff, 90, formerly of Tipton, died on Friday, December 1, 2017 while living as a resident in the Wilton Retirement Community. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at the First United Church of Christ. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at a later date in the Rochester Cemetery. Visitation will also be held on Monday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Dale LaMoyne Stiff was born January 7, 1927, in Cedar County to Adam Clayton Stiff and Elsie Mae Christian Stiff. He attended school in Rochester and was a 1944 graduate of Springdale High School then completed the Army Specialized Training Reserve Program at Coe College in March of 1945. Dale served his country in the US Army/Air Force in WWII in Okinawa.
Dale returned to Tipton and was united in marriage to Emogene Wehde on July 24, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After attending automotive school in Chicago, he worked for Miller Motor Co. Dale, with his brother Bill, owned and operated Stiff's Body Shop then later with his son, Doug until Dale retired.
Dale and Emogene enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, and spending winters in Texas. Dale was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Tipton where he served on several boards. He was a life member of the Tipton Moose Lodge where he served as Secretary. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Dale is survived by his wife, Emogene of Tipton, Iowa, sons, Doug (Kim) Stiff of Tipton, Iowa, Kim (Karen) Stiff of Tipton, Iowa, Scott (Lori) Stiff of Wellsville, Kansas; daughter, LuAnn (Doug) Davis of Tipton, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Joyce McLearn of Montrose, Iowa, Jeneane Stiff of Tipton, Iowa, and Sharon Stiff of Rochester, Iowa.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill, Donald, and Joe Stiff; and sister Lela "Toots" Slach.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the caring staff at Wilton Retirement Community and Iowa City Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilton Retirement Community or Iowa City Hospice.
