Robert Oris Tucker, 83, of Rochester, MN. passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester.
Robert was born January 15, 1934 in Austin, MN. to Oris and Eva (Dahl) Tucker. He graduated from Austin High School in 1952 and attended Gustavus Adolphus College. On October 29, 1956, he married Janice Sollie in Northwood, Iowa. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He and Janice moved to Owatonna where he worked for Owatonna Tool Company until moving to Rochester in 1959. He began working for I.B.M. in Rochester, and continued at I.B.M. for 35 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and the I.B.M. Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, and spending time with his family
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Debra Stiles of Longmont, CO., Kelly (Jay) Stoyles of Rochester, Amy (Dean) Pankow of Rochester, and Jennifer (Todd) Robertson of Rochester; two sisters, Nancy (David) Wernecke of Rochester and Janet (Gary) Zander of Rochester; nine grandchildren, Emily, Adam, Megan, Nicholas, Abbey, Jacob, Olivia, Alexa and Zachary; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Griff Owens.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. Gloria Dei Lutheran Church 1212 12th Ave. NW Rochester. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 5, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home 5421 Royal Place NW Rochester and 1 hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Inurnment with military honors will be in Oakwood Cemetery columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Samaritan Bethany Auxillary or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church sustenance program.
