Dale Kunkel

Dale Louis Kunkel, 69, of Keokuk, died Saturday evening, August 13, 2005 at his home.

Mr. Kunkel was born December 19, 1935, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of John William Florie and Elnora Kunkel. He married Donna Ott on December 26, 1965 in Hamilton, Illinois. She survives. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Keokuk most of his life with the exception of fourteen years in Oklahoma. He was employed as a crane operator at Griffin Wheel for 19 ½ years. He was an avid coin collector and was a member of the Keokuk Coin Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a wrestling fan and loved to watch "The Price is Right" on television.

He is survived by his wife Donna of Keokuk; two sons, Dale Kunkel of Cuba, Missouri; Tony Kunkel of Burlington, Iowa; four grandchildren, Kevin Dale Louis Kunkel, Brittney Sue Kunkel, Tony Juan Kunkel II, and Lucas Simon Kunkel; four sisters, Carol Wilsey and her husband, Bernard, of Keokuk, Margaret Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ruth Norton and her husband, Richard, of Texas, Cindy Johnson of Keokuk, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bill, Joe and Jake Kunkel; and a brother-in-law, Robert Johnson.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at DeJong's Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Thomas officiating. Burial with full military rites will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

Visitation was at DeJong's Funeral Home from 11:00 AM Tuesday until the time of services.
