Middleton - Francis Xavier Dickert "F.X." died peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 2nd at Agrace HospiceCare, Madison, WI. F.X. is survived by his mother, Dorothy Littel Dickert; children, Philip J. Dickert, Danielle N. (Ryan) Fuhrmann, Chase X. Dickert, and Taylor J. Dickert; grandchildren, Colton J. Fuhrmann and Finley X. Fuhrmann; sister, M. Susan Dickert (Philip C. Whitford); and significant other, Leslie Merar-McCloud. He was preceded in death by his father, P.J. Dickert.
F.X. was born October 14, 1950 to Dorothy and P.J. Dickert. He was married to Denice Hoetger for 19 years and Suzanne Hawver-Dickert, again for 19 years. He was a resident of Madison and Middleton, Wisconsin throughout his whole life. He began working for Klein-Dickert Co., Inc. (family business) in his teens. In 1970, he started the Painter Apprenticeship program, and over the next 50 years, he worked his way up the executive ladder to become CEO of the corporation. He and his sister, Susan, ran the Company together for the last 23 years.
Over the years, he welcomed 4 children into his home and they became the most important part of his life. His children remember him as a fun, energetic, giving, loving, and charismatic father who encouraged them to work hard but to play harder. F.X. was a very successful businessman but his passion, other than his children, was canoeing and portaging across Canada with family and friends, traveling over 8,000 miles in his lifetime. His other passions included our family ranch in central Wisconsin, fishing, hunting and Badger and Packer football. His fun-loving spirit and vigor for life will live on through his children and grandchildren.
A big thank you to the outpatient and inpatient nurses and staff at Agrace HospiceCare for their help and support in these last months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Dance Wisconsin, or Second Harvest Food Bank.
A party in F.X.'s honor will be held at Blackhawk Country Club, 3606 Blackhawk Drive, Madison, on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 3 - 6 PM.
F.X., may there be a fair wind at your back in your final paddle. We'll all be together on the other side.
