Elspeth Dautoff Alexander
December 13, 1929 - November 30, 2017

Elspeth Dautoff Alexander, 87, passed away November 30, 2017 in Seattle, Washington. She was born December 13, 1929 in Portland, Oregon, and resided in Shoreline, Washington since 1961. After graduation from Oregon State University, she was awarded a full merit scholarship to the Mills College graduate English program, where she earned a Masters Degree. Following her career as a high school teacher, she worked as an editor of foreign graduate student theses, and taught English as a second language on a volunteer basis. Elspeth loved gardening, playing the viola, spending time at her beloved beachfront property in Bremerton, and effortlessly destroying her opponents at Scrabble. She was married to Stuart M. Alexander for 48 years until his passing in 2000. She is survived by her son David Alexander of Bellevue, Washington; her son Kenneth Alexander, daughter in law Crystal Alexander, and grandson Glenn Alexander of Culver City, California; and her daughter Ann Alexander, son in law Paul Fuoss, and grandson Evan Fuoss of Palo Alto, California.
