Weston L. Krause
August 8, 1936 - December 6, 2017

Weston L. Krause, 81, of Rochester, passed away December 6, 2017. He was born at home in Ely, MN. on August 8, 1936, to Harlan and Bertha Krause. He attended Ely schools and was active on the swim team and band. After graduation, he spent four years in the U.S. Navy as a photographer. He moved to Rochester accepting a job with Newman Kraft Studio. During this time, he met the love of his life, Shirley Haney and they were joined in union August 20, 1960 at First Baptist Church in Rochester where he was a member for a few years. They later joined Calvary Evangelical Free Church where they have been members for over 50 years. In 1960, he was employed at I.B.M. and remained for 31 years. Throughout his life, music was a major part as he actively participated in the Rochester Barbershop Chorus and in both church choirs. His favorite musical group was the Gaither Vocal Band. He also enjoyed playing men's softball through I.B.M. and church league. He also spent several years bowling and was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club. He had a great sense of humor, was fun to live with and enjoyed his family immensely.

Weston is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shirley; a daughter Brenda (David) Hoyer of Rochester; two granddaughters Peggy (Andy) Marx of Grand Meadow and Lisa Hoyer of Rochester; three great-grandchildren , Elizabeth Kennedy, and Logan and Keaton Marx; his siblings, Arlene Childers of Ely, MN., Glenn (Nancy) Krause of Cloquet, MN. Duane (Karon) Krause of Show Low, AZ and Charlotte (Fred) Godec of Hibbing, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leon of Montana; a great-grandson Aiden Hoyer; brother-in-law Lyman Childers and sister-in-law Ellen Krause.

A special thank you to the staff at the dialysis units and Rochester East Golden Living Care Center for the excellent manner in which they have cared for Weston.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Calvary Evangelical Free Church 5500 25th Ave. NW Rochester. Visitation will be 1 hr prior to the service Saturday at the church.
