In loving memory of

Raquel R. Tomasini
November 12, 1925 - December 7, 2017

Raquel R. Tomasini passed away last Thursday, December 7th, at home in Madison, in the company of her children and grandchildren. Born on November 12th, 1925 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Raquel lived a very full life. She earned her B.A. in English Literature at Interamerican University, in Puerto Rico, then on a Fulbright Scholarship, went on to obtain two different Master's Degrees from Columbia University, in New York, at a time when not many women pursued post-graduate studies. Raquel traveled and lived in many places around the world, learning five languages and working as an interpreter at the United Nations, as a beloved teacher in Mexico, and a compassionate counselor for people with disabilities in Madison. In her later years, she enjoyed volunteering as a medical interpreter for the BSP clinic in Madison. Raquel was an avid reader, enjoyed crosswords, the New York Yankees, and going to musical events with friends and family. She is survived by her children Jimmy (Carmen Gladys) and Bianca (Mats), grandchildren, Margot (Carlos), Saul, Antoine, Mattias, Gabriella and Sofia and great grandchildren, Daniella and Olivia. She inspired family members and lifelong friends with her sharp mind, warm heart, grace and strength. We will miss her, but we will keep her alive forever in our hearts and through our many fond memories of her. A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 18th, 2017, at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison WI 53711. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Our Lady Queen of Peace.
