Owen C. Taylor, 85, of Hamilton, Illinois, died at 10:05 AM Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Memorial Hospital in Carthage, Illinois.

Mr. Taylor was born February 24, 1921, in Hamilton Illinois, the son of John and Nellie Taylor. He married Rosemary C. West on March 22, 1948, in Hamilton, Illinois. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He lived in the Hamilton area most of his life with the exception of several years in Rock Island, Illinois. While living in Rock Island, Illinois, he had been employed by J.I. Case, Bear Manufacturing, and International. In Keokuk, he had worked for Thomas Truck & Caster, Railway Express, and for Hubinger/Heintz for 35 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Hamilton, V.F. W. Post # 5117 in Carthage, and a life member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a history buff and enjoyed genealogy. He collected railroad lanterns and other collectibles.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; a son, Larry Taylor and his wife, Kimberlie, of Hamilton; a daughter, Judy Hardy and her husband, Richard, of Philadelphia, Missouri; three grandchildren, Crystal McGee and her husband, Mike, Karissa Taylor and Brandi Taylor; two great grandchildren, Austin and Taylor; Orpha Decker of Hamilton who was raised by Owen's parents; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd Taylor, Glen Taylor, and Carroll Taylor; and two sisters, Eva Fox and Mabel McLaughlin.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Wagner officiating. Burial followed with full military rites at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church or to the donor's choice.

The thing I remember most about Uncle Owen is, he loved loved his family especially his wife Aunt Rosemary, he loved his friends, and I think he loved anyone he met.
