"I would not trade the time I spent with Donny for anything in the world. He was always able to make me laugh at a time in my life I didn't think there would be anything to laugh about. It was some of the best times in my life. I know he is happy in Heaven today and I look forward to seeing him again."

"To Dody: What I think makes this whole ordeal so damn hard is knowing that you will never know the truth about what really took place that evening! Though I'm sure everybody that knew & loved him would like to know who/what/where/when & how, I honestly can not think of anyone who should know about the steps that were taken by your son that night than you & Katie! It's even harder for me knowing that,(according to some people), you are/were under the impression that I could give you the information about the events of that night because you did/do think that I had somthing to do with Donnie's death! I wish that there was something/anything I could do to change your way of thinking about me but all I can do is tell you now that I had absolutely, not one single thing to do with Donnie dying or anything that happened leading up to &/or that had happened after his demise for that matter! I wasn't even in Keokuk when all of this took place! I was in Montrose at my grandma's! I actually got the call to come to the hospital right away when I was on the highway, in my car, with Patty Best coming into town! If your really thinking this about me, all I have left to say is that, I'm sorry about what happened, but you are wrong about me! If you knew the kind of relationship/friendship Donnie & I had, & if I could only explain how much that man meant to my daughter and myself, I know in my heart you would never think them horrible thoughts about me! Again, I'm sorry! "
