Rita Rose Metzger, age 65 of Altoona, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines due to complications with leukemia. Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Alive Church in Prairie City. Inurnment will take place at Silent City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 17, 2017, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The daughter of Richard and Jacqueline (Thompson) Conrad, Rita was born on March 31, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa. Rita worked for several years at Firestone in Des Moines. She loved gardening and spoiling her two beautiful granddaughters. Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Stacy (Travis) Metzger-Moore and her dad Tommy Metzger; granddaughters, Sidney and Devann; siblings, John (Karen) Conrad, Roger Conrad, Ron Conrad, Alan Conrad, and Shelly (Gary) Delagardelle; niece and nephews, Rick (Courtney) Delagardelle, Aaron (Hollie) Delegardelle, Gina (Keith) Peyton, Jeff (Lisa) Conrad, Dean Conrad and Kristy Conrad and a special friend, Tim Glick.
