James L. Pfannes, 82, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Corpus Christi Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family.
James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian of Fort Dodge; sons, David (Margaret) Pfannes of Mason City, Steven (Jane) Pfannes of Boone, Gerald (Brenda) Pfannes of Ankeny; daughter, Lisa Pfannes of Duncombe; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Fuerstenberg of Bloomington, MN; and brother, William Pfannes of Dresser, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Mary (Metz) Pfannes; brothers, Peter Pfannes and Jake Pfannes; sisters, Mary Andrewson, Rita Abel, and Anna Roth; an infant sister; his great grandson, Connor David Burke.
James Louis Pfannes was born July 21, 1935 in St. Croix Falls, WI. He grew up in Centuria, WI and attended Woodrow Country School thru 8th grade and graduated in 1952 from Centuria High School. Jim then moved to Fairmont, MN. He worked at Borchardt 66. On September 6, 1955, he was united in marriage to Lillian Shumski and the couple made their home in Fairmont. He later began working for Montgomery Ward. In his 15 years with the company, he transferred to Fairbault, MN and then to Spencer, IA and eventually came to Fort Dodge. After the company closed, he worked for Arnold Motor 3 years and then began working for Sears Roebuck in 1973. Jim worked there until 1992, when he was no longer able to work. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Jim enjoyed spending his time on woodworking projects.
Memorials may be left to family discretion.
