Orpha Decker

Orpha J. Decker, 79, of Keokuk, Iowa, died at 10:10 am, Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at River Hills Village in Keokuk.

She was born August 14, 1928 in Hancock County, Illinois the daughter of Elwood and Eva Roth Taylor. She married Charles R. "Duff" Decker III on November 14, 1964, in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1992.

Orpha was a life long resident of the Warsaw, Keokuk, and Hamilton area. She was the president of Decker Manufacturing and had worked there for over 60 years. She was a member of Keokuk Art Center and American Legion Auxiliary of Keokuk. Her passions were watching birds, gardening and reading. In her early years, she loved to travel.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Stuckwisch of Keokuk; a son Michael Bollinger and his wife Jeanne of Keokuk; a grandson, Sean McGinnis of Keokuk; a great grandson, Connor McGinnis of Keokuk; six sisters, Norma Roth of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Nellie Hellemeyer of Dallas City, Illinois, Sharon Seltzer and her husband, Dean, of Arbela, Missouri, Joyce Johnson and her husband, Michael, of Montrose, Iowa, Linda Schrader and her husband, Don, of Montrose, Iowa, and Gloria Dunn and her husband, Bob, of Ft. Madison, Iowa; three brothers, Marty Fox and his wife, Jacquey, of Keokuk, Ron Fox and his wife, Betsy, of Canton, Missouri and Harry Roth and his wife, Mary, of Washington state; an aunt by marriage, Rosemary Taylor of Hamilton, Illinois; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandparents who raised her, John and Nellie Taylor; and one sister, Dorothy.

Funeral services were Friday, February 1, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at DeJong's Funeral Home with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Following the service her body will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to either Kibbe Biological Research Station or Lee County Hospice.
