Bob retired from the Mayo Clinic in 1989 after 42 years of service. He spent his final years of service at Mayo as supervisor of the Autopsy Department in the Medical Science Building.
Bob is survived by a son Randy (Kathleen) Mieras of Rochester, two grandsons Jeffrey (Amy Drewes) Mieras of Rochester and Kevin (Lindsey) Mieras of Brooklyn Park, MN and five great grandchildren and his devoted caregiver Thuy Truong. Marilyn (Mieras) Doud wrote on Dec 19, 2017:

"I'm so sad to hear of my cousin's passing, and send my condolences to his family and all who knew this kind, generous man. The last time I saw him was at my mother's funeral in 2005, and I remember talking with him about Doris and her struggle with Alzheimer's. When I was a child, our social life revolved around family, and Bob and Doris were certainly a part of that. I know he will be missed, and I hope the memories of a life well lived will give all of those who knew him some comfort. Marilyn (Mieras) Doud"
