Donald Brackelsberg

Donald Leon Brackelsberg, 71, of rural Canton, Missouri, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at his home.

Mr. Brackelsberg was born January 17, 1937, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Robert L. and Dorothy M. Griffin Brackelsberg. He was married to Joyce Buschling for 30 years before they divorced. He served in the United States Army. He lived in this area all his life. He was a brick and stone mason and was self employed. He was a member of First Christian Church in Keokuk. He enjoyed fishing, operating a fireworks store, and putting on fireworks displays for the community.

He is survived by a son, Shanon Brackelsberg of Delta, Iowa; a daughter, Shauna Garner and her husband, Rick, of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Skylar and Riley Doak, Hunter and Halie Brackelsberg; three brothers, Robert Brackelsberg,James Brackelsberg and his wife, JoAnn, and Larry Brackelsberg and his wife, Cindy, all of Keokuk; and one sister, Joyce Lawless and her husband, Dale, of Sun City, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bernice Bullard, and her husband, Bob, of Louisiana.

Graveside services were Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk with Rev. Goeffrey Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.
