"Carolyn, I want you to know that Bill's death is very upsetting. We were great friends during junior and senior high school. What fun we had - he was the best. The last time I spoke with Bill was when he came to the Holiday Inn where we were staying in prepartation for my father's funeral in 1994. At that time he said he was living in the Quad Cities. We had a lot of laughs recalling some of our adventures - sneaking out, chasing girls, trying to fool your grandmother Laura (she was too smart for us) and the trip we made during our senior year in high school to Fort Lauderdale to stay with your grandparents (Thomas) over Christmas break. He was truly a great friend. You should know that I will never forget him and consider knowing him and your family one of the great privileges of my life. The best to you always, Mike Hays"
