Donald "Duck" Dean Dehmlow was born on October 24, 1938, in Comfrey, Minnesota to the late Kenneth Eugene and Doris Ellen (Patton) Dehmlow. He received his early education in Bingham Lake and later completed his education in the Windom Public Schools.
Don was united in marriage to Janice Lorene Strausser on December 26, 1959, in Jackson, Minnesota. This union was blessed with three children, Laurie, Jeff and Chad. After marriage, Don and Jan lived in Windom for a short time before moving to their current home on Highway 60 in Bingham Lake. For fifty-one years, Don owned and operated the Bingham Lake Truck Center next to his home in Bingham Lake where he loved what he did and met a lot of people and friends through the business.
Through the years, Don was also involved in his community as a member of the Bingham Lake United Methodist Church until it closed. While a member of the church, Don served the church in many different areas including lay leader, usher, Sunday school teacher and as a volunteer custodian. After its closing, Don started attending the First United Methodist Church in Windom where he was active in the church. He also was a member of the Bingham Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
On Monday morning, February 28, 2011, Don was working at the truck center and was involved in an accident that took his life at the age of 72 years. He lived and died doing what he loved.
Don is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Jan Dehmlow of Bingham Lake; three children, Laurie Dehmlow (Fred Jew) of St. Paul; Jeff Dehmlow of Crystal; Chad Dehmlow (Jenelle) of Hudson, WI; one step-grandson, Ryan Jew of Wasilla, AK; five brothers and sisters, Vernon (Julene) Dehmlow of Grove City; Genevieve Jones of Laurens, IA; Kenneth (Rose) Dehmlow of Jordan; Rodney (Rita) Dehmlow of Prior Lake; Rebecca (Robert) Millea of Tulsa, OK; one brother-in-law, Richard Hyde of Bingham Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bonne Menken-Hyde; and two brother-in-laws, Wayne Jones and Levern "Tiny" Menken.
