"Darleen was my PE teacher in 1969-1971. She was also our cheerleading coach. She was a dedicated cheerleading sponsor and always cared about how we represented Muncie Central. She was a good advocate for me as I may not have been chosen cheerleader without her input. She was a kind soul and really appreciated athletic excellence! I may have been the only one ever to get and A+ in gym. RIP MS Peppler"

"I taught with Darlene at Muncie Central from 1972-1975 before I left teaching and moved to Fort Wayne.Part of my responsibilities was to assist Darlene with coaching some of the girls teams so I got to know Darlene quite well and have very fond memories of her.I recall one time she was so embarrassed about our worn out and dirty volley balls (we had almost no budget back then) that she used white shoe polish to make the ball look nicer. But of course during a match with an opposing team some of the polish came off on the players' hands!"

I am an educator now, myself and can better understand what she had to endure as a high school coach and teacher. I remember her patience and kindness."

"I graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1976 and have fond memories of Miss Peppler's gym class.Although she tried to come across as a rough, gruff teacher, I know she was a "softie" at heart. In later years, I occasionally ran into Miss Peppler at Muncie Central sporting events, and I always enjoyed catching up with her.Her love of students was apparent, because even after she retired, she remained a dedicated supporter of them.I will keep your family in my prayers."
