Catherine Louise Pollock

Catherine Pollock, 75, of rural Malvern, IA, passed away December 22, 2017.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Malvern. Burial will be in the Malvern Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the funeral home.

Catherine Louise Pollock, one of four children of Wilbur and Dorothy (Jackson) Murphy was born on July 23, 1942 in Clarinda, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Westboro, Missouri and attended college in Omaha, Nebraska. Catherine worked at a law firm until her marriage.

Catherine and John Price Pollock met on a blind date. They were married on June 22, 1963 at the Methodist Church in Malvern, Iowa. The couple made their home on the farm near Malvern and were blessed with two daughters, Connie and Diane.

Catherine loved her life on the farm, helping John, and gardening. She was an avid fan of the Creighton Blue Jays and Iowa Hawkeyes. Catherine always shared memories of her own childhood with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, a good friend to all who knew her, and she loved being "grammy".

Catherine courageously battled a brain tumor for 25 years. She passed away at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa on December 22, 2017, at the age 75 years, 4 months, and 29 days. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Dorothy; in-laws, Lynn and Vivian Pollock; and sister-in-law Patty Pollock.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Pollock of Malvern; daughters, Connie Jones and husband Dean of Malvern, and Diane Weppler of Lewis, IA; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Swecker and husband Jon, Caley Jo Schroeder and husband Josh, Liz Brammer and husband Ben, Hunter Jones, Camden Jones, Michael Coates, and McKayla Weppler; six great grandchildren, Liam, Caley Anne, Jadyn, Price, Harris, and Olivia; brothers, Ron Murphy and wife Karen of Yuma, AZ, Jim Murphy and wife Vicky of Canon City, CO, and Garold Murphy of South San Francisco, CA; brothers-in-law, Jim Pollock of Mt. Ayr, IA, Frank Pollock and wife Judy of Mt. Ayr, and Tom Pollock and wife Helen of Malvern; sister-in-law Erma Scearcy and husband Charles of Ollie, IA; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of friends.
