"Sue & family, My heart hurts for all of you. Of course my fondest memories of John are of our childhood & I remember the mischievous boy who played baseball with me, climbed the old mulberry tree at the farm, played Roy Rodgers, hide and seek in the barn in the hayloft, rode the calves like we were in a rodeo, (much to uncle Clete's dismay), taught me how to catch pigeons in the barn with a flashlight then turn them loose in the house to Gert's great anguish,( I think we may have gotten a butt beatin for that) had Julie Sullivan take me under her wing the first day I went to school at Barnum, put me on his horse by the old school and laughed his ass off when the horse ran like a maniac back to the old barn, and conned me into sitting in a closet of all places and lighting off a box of matches with him. ( I clearly remember the butt beatin we got for that one)!!! Baling hay & him helping me learn to drive the old John Deere. Always a tease but a protector of those he cared for. And I remember Mom & I playing cupid with John & Sue because despite his orneriness he was pretty shy with girls and we just knew Sue was the right girl for him. I am so glad he was part of my dearest childhood memories and I am so sad for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and John's brothers and sister. Dwight & Judy (Thoma) Frideres"
